Management can send a lot of messages that let you, the owner of the business, know whether they truly respect your position and consider themselves stewards of your capital. These seven tips will help you distinguish between a U.S. Bank (which requires its executives to own shares of the company equal to several times their base salaries) and ABC Networks (twenty years ago, original Jackson Pollock paintings were sold off the wall to pad financial results as the network execs rode around in white limos and ate at a five-star dining room, racking up florist bills of $60,000 - paid for, of course, by the stockholders).
