Sir John Templeton Just Passed Away ...

Tuesday July 8, 2008
It's a very, very sad day for every capitalist and financier in the world. Sir John Templeton, one of the world's best investors and a pioneer in the area of global investing, just passed away from pneumonia. This man was one of the first to understand how bargains could be found globally using the same value proposition employed by people like Ben Graham, Warren Buffett, the folks at Tweedy Browne, Marty Whitman, etc. He was 95 years old.

If there ever were a case for investing allowing someone to live well, it was Templeton. He apparently lived in one of the most exclusive communities in the world on an island in the Bahamas, drove a Rolls Royce, and managed his global empire from the closet thing to paradise on Earth.

You can learn a lot about his investing style in Investing the Templeton Way, a new book published in 2008. If you're serious about learning to invest and taking control of your finances, you are going to enjoy this work detailing the methods of the man Money magazine called the greatest stock picker of the century.
