Repurchase Agreements - or Repos

There is a special kind of financial instrument on Wall Street known as a repurchase agreement or repo. These allow banks, money market funds, mutual funds, and other institutions to earn rates of return on excess cash through a special kind of contract that you might not have ever heard about that requires one party to buy back something it's already sold.
