Product Summary
Martha, Inc
The Incredible Story of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia

Martha, Inc.

by Christopher Byron
Guide Rating -
Pros • Illustrates how Martha Stewart used her business acumen to
• Provides a glimpse into the building of an empire
• Allows you to see the many sides (some not so pretty) of Martha
Cons The biography could have had more in-depth information about Martha Stewart's business (for example, i would have liked to see "in 1976, Martha's business made $x,xxx, xxx"). To his credit, the author most likely did not have access to this information.
The Bottom Line - This book is an excellent example of what (and what not) to do when building a business. Christopher Byron attempts to paint a fair and unbiased view of Stewart. It is the kind of book that will keep you awake at night, just so you can read one more chapter.

Guide Review
Martha Stewart has long been considered America's premier homemaker. Now, thanks to Christopher Byron's new book Martha, Inc, she will be remembered for much more than that. Far from being a doting housewife, Martha Stewart is perhaps the most brilliant business woman in recent history. After growing up in a New Jersey working-class town, Martha started a catering business out of her kitchen (which she and a friend dubbed "The Uncatered Affair"). It wasn't long before the domestic goddess stomped her way to the top - leaving friends, CEOs, executives, and family members in her wake.
