What is a Conference Call?

A conference call is a phone call hosted by a company to discuss quarterly earnings and recent developments in the business.  Institutional investors and analysts are given the opportunity to ask questions directly to the top management.  Individual investors are frequently allowed to listen in, but are normally not given a chance to participate in the question and answer session.

Conference calls are often rebroadcast on the company's website for several weeks.
