Government National Mortgage Association - Ginnie Mae

Definition: Ginnie Mae is an entity completely owned by the United States Government. A part of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Ginnie Mae purchases mortgages from approved lending institutions, analyzes them, and then sells them to investors. These mortgages are guaranteed and backed by the United States Government.
