John D. Rockefeller The Oil Baron

The first billionaire in United States History, John D. Rockefeller is a testimony to hard work and dedication. From an almost penniless background, JDR swore that he was "bound to be rich, bound to be rich, bound to be rich!", and sure enough, he was. His company, Standard Oil, was one of the fastest growing businesses enterprises of all time, and was as dominate in the oil business as Microsoft is today. During his working years, nearly 90% of the oil in the world was refined through one of Rockefeller's plants.
